Be Free Counseling, PLLC is owned by therapist Sarah Feurer. Be Free Counseling opened the doors to serve the Lake Norman community in 2017 and is dedicated to providing quality therapeutic services to children and adults.

Owner of Be Free Counseling, Sarah Feurer, earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UNC-Greensboro; she went on to obtain her Master’s degree in Social Work and a Certificate in Play Therapy from UNC-Charlotte. Sarah has been practicing in the field of mental health since 2011, gaining experience in a variety of mental health settings including Intensive In-Home therapy for children/adolescents, providing school-based therapy, managing an outpatient therapy program for a community based mental health facility, and providing outpatient therapy in private practice for children and adults.

Sarah enjoys working with children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. Sarah offers an approach that is warm and engaging and utilizes treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, and Dialectic Behavioral Therapy. Sarah genuinely strives to provide quality care to her clients by providing a safe environment to grow and thrive. While Sarah works with clients of all ages, Sarah has specialized training in treating children and adolescents presenting with a wide array of treatment needs. Specifically, Sarah specializes in the treatment of pediatric OCD and has highly specialised professional training in this area from the International OCD Foundation Training Institute.

As a Registered Play Therapist with the Association of Play Therapy, Sarah offers evidence-based treatment modalities to treat children experiencing ADHD, anxiety, behavioral concerns, depression, adoption/attachment difficulties, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, difficulty with life transitions, and trauma. Sarah enjoys working closely with parents and caregivers to provide parenting support and offers Child-Parent Relationship Training.

Sarah enjoys spending her free time with her husband and two young sons. Sarah enjoys being active in the community as well as cheering on the Carolina Panthers.
